In our Computing lessons, we have been learning about Binary and how to convert decimal numbers into binary and binary numbers into decimal. Mr Stephens then set us a challenge to make a video to explain binary to other children. Here are a few of the videos, which ones explain binary the best? Can you understand how to convert binary into decimal from watching these videos?
Today, Year 6 came together with our partnership class, which is Year 2, for our monthly P.E. challenge. We had a fantastic time.
The aim of today’s session was to beat our score from September in the following 3 areas:
- Balancing – The Stork
- Throwing and catching a ball
- Long jump
Today, Year 6 along with the rest of Rushall School took part in our annual Harvest Festival assembly. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of the children singing their class harvest songs and performing our very own ‘Eat Your Greens’. Following the assembly, we continued the traditional celebrations by sharing our delicious harvest bread.
We have had another busy day on our final full day at Kingswood!
As usual our day started with out breakfast and then we went into out groups for our morning activities: Jungle Vines, Fencing, Laser, Kayaking and Obstacle Challenge. We all had a great time!
We then met back up for lunch, before splitting back into our three groups for the afternoon activities: Kayaking, Jungle Vines, Laser, Orienteering and also our visit to the shop!
We then had our final evening meal, before the traditional sing-along around the campfire!
Another busy day at Kingswood for us today!
Following our breakfast we all went down to the lake to take part in our first activity – Raft Building! As three teams, we needed to work together to decide how to build our rafts and then build them using logs, barrels and rope. We used our skills from the buggy building to tie the logs securely together. Most of us ended getting wet!
We then went back into our three groups and took part in more activities – Jacobs Ladder, Nightline and Archery.
We then met back up for lunch, and then went to our after noon activities – Climbing, Obstacle Challenge and Kayaking! Group three managed to get soaked! Including Mr Stephens who ended up in the lake!
We then all met back at the dining hall for dinner and followed this with our Night Walk – We walked around the camp, looked at the stars (Some of us found Polaris – the North Star), learned about the history of Colomendy during WWII and also its mining history.
Please ignore the dates/times on some of the photographs, the cameras dates/times are incorrect.
We have had another really busy and exciting day at Kingswood.
Following breakfast this morning we split into our three groups to take part in our three activities. We then had our lunch and followed this by another set of three activities. We then ate our dinner and all took part in Scrapheap Challenge before hot chocolate and going to bed.
Activities covered today:
- Buggy Build
- Balance Beam
We have had a busy day so far!
When we arrived at Kingswood, we settled into our rooms and then went to the dining hall to have lunch, there was a great choice of food for us!
After lunch, we met our leader Ren and had a tour of the site and played games on the field. We then went to our first activity – bushcraft. It was great fun – we had to light our own fires using a flint, luckily we knew what to do as we have had Forest School sessions at school before.
Two groups then had Buggy Building and the third group went on the balance beam.
We then went for dinner and had some time on the field. We are currently participating in the Mini Olympics. Here are some photos of our day.
This week in Computing, we have learned all about Binary. We then converted decimal numbers into binary numbers. Look out for our videos explaining binary soon!
